Q) Can I use AM with TOGAF™ and ITIL and other methods?

Yes. You can use AM to extend and improve almost any IT or software methodology - like ITIL or RUP - that you already use.

You can use AM to supplement TOGAF. AM activities are mapped to TOGAF phases. AM elaborates on views mentioned only by name in TOGAF.

You can use AM with CAM and SAM, two other approaches to enterprise architecture that have grown out of practical experience.

·         CAM (Crompton Architecture Meta-Model): developed by Allister Crompton to capture the essence of his experience in EA assignments.

·         SAM (Strategic Architecture Model): Bob Jarvis developed SAM as a distillation of many years of architectural modelling experience.

Q) Can I use AM with the Zachman Framework?

Yes but we do not recommend this. The BAF (the AM deliverable framework) resembles the Zachman Framework superficially. However, we believe AM is easier to apply and more useful to solution architects in particular.

Q) Can I use AM for Enterprise Architecture?

Read the guides under the heading of “Architects and Architecture” and decide for yourself.

Q) Does AM training help me get a Certificate?

Yes. See Certificates for Architects.
